| Part 3) Creating the Buttons |
| In this next part we're going to be creating the buttons with the rotating star effect. |
| Step 26. |
| Click on the buttons layer, drag over the button graphic from the library, and place it in the position shown below. |
| |
| Step 27. |
| Convert the button graphic into an MC called "buttonMC" |
| |
| Step 28. |
| Convert the buttonMc into another MC called "about_btn". |
| |
| Step 29. |
| Give the about_btn MC the instance name using the same name. |
| |
| Step 30. |
| Go into the about_btn MC, create two extra layers and name them as shown below. |
| |
| Step 31. |
| On the "text" layer, create the "about" button text. You can use the settings shown in the image below or your own if you like. |
| |
| Step 32. |
| Now we're going to add the rotating stars. We're going to create two groups of stars, using rings as guides to position them. Choose the oval tool and, from the properties panel, set the fill to empty and the stroke to hairline. Create a ring on the "stars" layer, as shown below. |
| |
| Step 33. |
| Convert the ring to an MC called stars. |
| |
| Step 34. |
| Go into the stars MC and create a larger ring. |
| |
| Step 35. |
| Convert the smaller ring to an MC called "s1", this time making sure to set the registration point to the center. This is important because when s1 MC is rotated using actionscript, it needs to rotate from the center. |
| |
| Step 36. |
| Convert the larger ring into an MC called s2" |
| |
| Step 37. |
| Go into the s1 MC, name the layer "ring", and create a new layer called "redStar". Drag the red star graphic on the "stars" layer, placing it obove the ring. Now conver the star into an MC called redStar. |
| |
| Step 38. |
| Drag over the orange star onto the "stars" layer, and convert it to an MC called "orangeStar" |
| |
| Step 39. |
| Copy (Edit > Copy) and paste (Edit > Paste) the stars onto the same layer. Use the align panel to create different size, and place them around the ring. |
| |
| Step 40. |
| Now go into the s2 MC and do the same. |
| |
| Step 41. |
| Right click on the "ring" layer and choose "guide". This will make whatever's on the layer invisble when the site is published, and in this case the ring. |
| |
| Step 42. |
| Now go back to the stars MC and give the s1 MC the instance name "s1" |
| |
| Step 43. |
| And the s2 MC the instance name "s2". |
