This tutorial will show you how to create a sliced, fading, text effect in Adobe Flash

Step 1.
First of all create a new Flash document with dimensions of 300x200. Create some large thick text, using a font such as Arial Black, and then break it apart (control+b) twice. The text should now be in the form of a shape (image b).

Step 2.
Next, rotate it by 90 degrees (modify > transform > rotate 90 CW). Open the color mixer panel (shift + F9) and change the type to linear (circled in red). Then set the left slider (cirlced in green) to blue and the right slider (circled in purple) to light blue.
