| Start off by making a new Photoshop document with a black background, with dimensions of 300x200. Create some large, grey (7F7E7E) thick text. I've used 150pt BorisBlackBloxx, but you can use any thick font, such as Arial Black. Rasterize the text and make a selection using it and create a linear gradient using 7F7E7E for the foreground and 595959 for the background. Make a blue (0A9AFF) diagonal strip, using the polygonal lasso tool and on a new layer. |

| |
| Duplicate the layer and adjust it's color (image > adjustments > hue/saturation). Then duplicate each strip like in image b). |
| |
| Merge all the stripes together into a single layer. Duplicate the layer and change the new stripe layer's color (image > adjustments > hue/saturation) |
| |
| Change both the stripe layer's blending modes to "overlay", and then nudge the top stripe layer down and right a bit. You should end up with an effect like in image b). |
| |
| Make a selection, using the original text, and fill a new layer below it, using a dark grey (292929) . Next go to [ Part 2 ] of this Photoshop tutorial. |
