  Step 4.
This is the 2nd part of this Photoshop tutorial to draw a dog. Next we're going to create 1 of the ears, so make a new layer and path and then select the pen tool. Create the first 2 points of the path, making a curve like in image a). Next, select the Convert Point Tool and then shorten the bottom part side of directional line, that expanded as the path became curved. This will allow you to create more points on the path. Continue to create more points, dragging the directional line to make the lines curved. Do this until you've achieved the result shown in image c).

Step 5.
Once you've completed the path, make a selection out of it by hold the Ctrl key and clicking on it in the path panel. Fill the selection with black and then contract (selection > modify > contract) the selection by 1 pixel. Fill the contracted selelction with a dark brown and then choose any marquee tool from the tool bar. By selelcting one of these tools, you should be able to drag the selection up and right a notch, like in image c). Once you've done that, create a new layer and then fill it with a light rich brown. The new brown layer will be overlapping the outline of the ear, so you'll need to make a selection using the dark brown layer, by clicking on it in the layers panel with Ctrl pressed.

Step 5.
Make sure the brown layer is highlighted in the layers panel and then right click on it, choosing layer via cut. This will leave two layers, so delete the layer containing the overlapping part. Use the polygonal lasso tool to create a darker shape where the thing part of the ear connects to the head. Make this on a layer below the large parts and then merge all the ear layers together. Rotate the newly merged layer, by going to edit > transform > rotate.

Step 5.
Duplicate the ear layer, flip it horizontally ( edit > transform > flip horizontal) and then move it over to the left. Make a new layer above all the others and then create a brown cirlce. Create another layer below the right ear layer and then create a smaller brown cirlce, as in image b)

Step 5.
Make a new layer for the first eye, and then make a circle on it. Contract the selection by 1 pixel and then fill it with white. Zoom in a bit more and then make a tiny circle for the pupil of the eye.

Step 6.

Duplicate the eye layer, moving it over to the left and then create a black oval shape for the nose. That's the end of the 2nd part of this Photoshop tutorial. Next go to Draw a dog Photoshop Tutorial Part 3.
