Draw a Dalek Part 2 |
|
| |
Step 5 |
|
| |
Now, we're going to draw the humps that are distributed around the base. Create a new layer, zoom in to 200% and then create a circular selection using the elliptical marquee tool. Fill the selection with a light grey and the contract it by 1 pixel, by going to Select > modify > contract. Next choose the gradient tool, with radial gradient set, and then the foreground to a light grey and the background to a dark grey. Drag from the centre of the selection, making a radial gradient. |

Step 6. |
|
| |
So that's the first one done. Now all you need to do is duplicate the layer and spread them along the panels like in image a). To create the humps along the edges of the Dalek, just use the polygonal lasso tool to select the area not needed and then delete it.

Step 7. |
|
| |
You should end up with something similar to image a). Now we're going to be drawing the upper section of the Dalek. First of all create the shape, shown in image b), and using a very dark black.

Step 8. |
|
| |
Again, using the polygonal lasso tool, create the shape shown in image a). This time fill it with a reflected gradient. You can do this by choosing a light grey for the foreground, dark for the background, and then by dragging the gradient tool from the centre of the selection to the right hand edge of it.

Step 9. |
|
| |
Now we're going to create the smaller panels held by screws. Make a new layer, using the polygonal lasso tool to create a light grey shape and then contract it by 1 pixel.

Step 10. |
|
| |
Fill the contracted selection with a darker grey and you should end up with something shown in image a). Then, using the brush tool, create some black dots at each end.
