This is part 3 of the Photoshop tutorial to draw a knife. We're now going to create the pattern on the handle. On a new layer create a pixel wide light grey line and then rotate it 45 degrees. You can do this by going to edit > transform and then entering 45 in the degrees box at the top of Photoshop. Once you've rotated the line, Duplicate it a number of times, so that they cover the entire handle. Don't make them evenly spaced out. |

Merge all the lines together and then duplicate the layer. Flip the duplicate horizontally (edit > transform > flip horizontal. You should end up with a pattern similar to the one in image a) Merge the 2 layers together and then make selection out of the 1st large section of the handle, as in image b). Right click on in the selection and choose layer via cut. |

Repeat these actions for all the large parts of the handle, and then set their blending modes to multiply with 70% opacity. |
