This is the 2nd part of the tutorial to create a desktop style layout, using Photoshop, where we'll start creating the paper for the layout. Start off by using the rectangular marquee tool to create a white rectangle on a new layer, and in a new layer set called "paper 2".
Duplicate the layer set, naming it "paper 1" and make it invisible, from the layers panel. In the "paper 2" layer set, use the rectangular marquee tool to create a 2 pixel high purple line, on a new layer.
Step 8.
Duplicate the line several times, spacing them out fairly evenly, as shown below. Now merge this layer set into a single layer, by click on the set in the layers panel, and choosing "layer > merge layer set", from the top of Photoshop.
Step 9.
Make the "paper 1" layer set visible again and also merge this layer set into a single layer. Next, apply the drop shadow layer style (layer > layer style > drop shadow) to both "paper 2" and "paper 2", using the settings shown below.
Next go to part 3 where we'll arrange the paper to look a bit more interesting.
