This Photoshop tutorial will show you how to create an easy patterned text.

Step 1.
Start off by making a new Photoshop document with dimensions of 250x160. Create a linear gradient using dark grey and black and then create some large thick text using. I've used these settings. Next apply noise (filter > noise > add noise).

Step 2.
Next choose the "Ornament 2" custome shape, creating one over one of the letters. I've used a light green (D1D8D5) for the color.

Step 3.
Raterize the shape, which you have the option to when right clicking on it in the layers panel. Create another shape. Duplcaite the shape over the other laters and merge the shapes together. Make a selection using the text, cut (layer via cut) the shape layer and delete the surround area layer. Change the layer's blending mode to "Overlay".

Step 4.
Make a selection using the text again.

Step 5.
Fill a new layer with dark grey (443435), feather (select > feather) and contract (select > modify > contract) the selection by 7 and delete the selected area. Make another selection of the text, expand (select > modify > expand) it by 5 and fill a new layer below with dark grey (443435).

Step 6.
Apply the bevel and emboss layer style (layer > layer style > bevel and emboss) and that brings us to the end of this Photoshop tutorial!
