  Mud Texture
This Photoshop tutorial will show you how to make a mud texture in minutes.

  Step 1.
For this tutorial the result will be a 200x200 pixel mud texture, but we're going to start off with a 400x400 blank image, and then reduce it in size later. Create a blank canvas and then fill it with a light brown color and then select black as your background color.

  Step 2.
Create some clouds by going to Filter > Render > Difference Clouds. You should have something like the image below.

  Step 3.
Next, we're going to simplify the clouds a bit with Paint Daubs. Go to Filter > Artistic > Paint Daubs, and then enter the values shown in the image below.

  Step 4.
We now need to increase the contrast of the image with Emboss. You can do this by going to Filter > Stylize > Emboss and then entering the values shown in the image below.

  Step 5.
The overall image should look something like this:

  Step 6.
Next use Bass Relief, by going to Filter > Sketch > Bas Relief, and then enter the values shown in the image.

  Step 7.
You should have something like in the image below, but you'll notice that the image is slightly blurry. Reduce it in size by going to Image > Image Size and then enter 200 for both width and height.

  Step 8.
So, there you go, a quick mud texture!
