| Start off by making a new Photoshop document with dimensions of 700x550, and a grey (535459) background. To create a background for the header, use the rectangular marquee tool to create a grey/green (B6B6B6) rectangle on a new layer. |

| On another new layer, create a light grey rectangle of the same width. |
 |

| Duplicate the header rectangle and fill it with a darker grey. |

| Apply the pattern overlay ( layer > layer style > pattern overlay) layer style. Click on the button circled in green, then the arrow circled in red. Choose 'rock patterns', which is circled in blue. |

 |
|
| Select the gravel pattern , circled in red. |
 |

 |
|
| Set the opacity of the pattern to 75% and click ok |
 |

 |
|
| You should now having somelike like in the image below. |

|
| Reduce the opacity of the layer to 65%, that some of the grey/green layer is visible through the pattern overlay. |
