This tutorial will show you how to create text with a scrolling background.

Step 1.

First of all, create some grey (CACACA) thick text in a new layer set and on a black background. I've used Arial Black 200pt. Fill a new layer with orange (FF7C00) and then use the rectangular marquee tool to create a blue strip on the same layer.

Step 2.

Create several more strips with varying width and then move the layer below the text, outside of the layer set.

Step 3.

Make a selection using the light grey text, expand (select > modify > expand) it by 5 pixels and then fill a layer below the grey text with dark grey (4C4C4C). Make a selection using the light grey text again and then fill a new layer above it with dark grey (525252).

Step 4.

Feather (select > feather) and contract (select > modify > contract) it by 7 pixels and then delete the area that's selected. Then go to [Part 2]of this Photoshop tutorial.
