| First of all, create a new Photoshop document with the dimensions 450w x 410h. For this tutorial I've made the signpost quite large, but you can create it smaller if you like. You can easily resize it at the end if you like, with little noticeable difference :). Next, fill the background with a light brown color, as shown in image a). Use the noise filter, to give it some texture, with the settings shown in image b).

| Next we're going to create the poll. Make a long rectangular selection, with the rectangular marquee tool, and then choose gradient tool. Set the gradient tool to “linear gradient” and then set the background color to dark grey and the foreground to light grey. Drag the gradient tool the distance of the red arrow, in image a). Next, create a circular selection with the elliptical marquee tool. With it set to radial gradient, create a gradient for a rounded top of the pole. |
