| First of all make a new photoshop document with a grey background, and then create some large thick white text, using something like Arial Black 150pt. Make a selection of the text and then, on a new layer, fill it with dark grey. Feather (select > feather) and contract (selection > modify > contract) the selection by 7 pixels, and then delete the selected part. You should now have some shaded text. Zoom in to 200% magnication and then create a black oval on a new layer. |

| Using the arrow keys, move the selection up about 4 pixels and then delete the selected area. You should now have a curved black line. Make a selection of the curved line, feather and contract it by 1 pixel and then fill it with white. You should now have a shaded line, as shown in image a).
