| Start off by making a new Photoshop document. For this tutorial i've created a 260x190 document to fit 2 letters on, but feel free to use any size you want, making sure to leave some space around the text. The settings used for this text can be seen below. |
| Next, rasterize the type, by right clicking on it in the layers panel and choosing "rasterize type". Use the Add Noise Filter (Filter > Noise > Add Noise) on the text, using the settings shown below. Make a selection using the text (Select > Load Selection), and fill a new layer with dark grey (b). |
| Feather (Select > Modify > Feather) the selection by 5 pixels, and contract (Select > Modify > Contract) it by 5 also, and then delete the area that's been selected (a). This should give the text some shading. Next resize the royalty free stone texture and place it below the text layers (b) |
| Make a selection using the text, expand (select > modify > expand) it by 5 pixels, and fill a new layer below with light grey (a) . Use the selection to cut (layer via cut) a new layer into the stone texture. Bring the layer above all the other layers, from the layers panel. |
| From the layers panel, change the cut layer's blending mode to "Overlay". Flatten the image (Layer > Flatten Image), and apply the Sharpen filter ( Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen). |
